The new version of this product is misleading because it is another product and it retains the name of the old one. The new Fantasy Fire nail polish has NOTHING in common with the old, shimmering, fiery rainbow Fantasy Fire. So bring back the Fire or change the name of the new...whatever you want to call it, because I will never refer to it as fantasy Fire!
Oh, and for those who bought the old Fantasy Fire and were disappointed - it's meant for layering over a dark color, don't waste this precious nail polish by putting on 4-5 layers on its own! What you were doing with this polish is sacrilege! :))))) Try 1-2 coats over navy blue or black and then post a comment. ;)
I love this enamel. Easy to use and a nice size so no waste or gloopy varnish!
I used Red carpet glam (no 11) and the colour applies evenly and is the same red that you can see in the bottle.
Beautiful finish too. I would definately recommend this product.
I saw Fantasy Fire in the store and did a double take, it was so beautiful! But don't be fooled into thinking you will get the same effect on your nails in a single coat, because you won't. I don't own any other Max Effect polishes but I imagine this to be a common complaint with all the Max Effect mica polishes. You could build layers if you have the time, but I wouldn't recommend this. However use it over a base colour, and then you will only need a single coat to make your nails pop. If you want to achieve the bottle colour use it over a purple base. A deep blue also works well; basically any base colour similar to the mica colours of Fantasy Fire. My only major complaint would be the price; it's quite expensive for such a tiny bottle.
I bought the Fantasy Fire colour as it was a beautiful deep bluey purple with a bit of a shimmer running through it. I'm into deep colours at the moment so it looked perfect. However, the colour on my nails is more like a mid range lilac. Not the colour in the bottle at all. It's quite patchy as well - not giving a good overall colour and both applications were quite thick - a lot more than I would usually expect to use. Not impressed at all.
I know that some of the colours are a bit watery, but some of them are extremely thick and opaque - I only need one coat of 09 - Diva Coral and I find it lasts a few days. It's a bit hit and miss with regards to the consistency of the polish, but even the more watery formulas are lovely over the top of an opaque one. For £3.99 (and the fact that Max Factor is always on offer) they're a bargain.
Drawn in by the lovely colour of fantasy fire I decided to impulsively buy a bottle. I thought the colour would be a lovely glossy, vibrant purple with a beautiful iridescent shimmer of red glitter, but it turns out the 'Fantasy' part isn't just a pretty name. I applied the first coat, and the varnish was extremely thin and watery, perhaps I hadn't shaken the bottle well enough, so after a good hard shake I applied coat number two. Hmmmm.. still no better... perhaps it's because its so glossy, it doesn't look vibrant until the third coat. Coat three- I can still see the colour of my nail through the varnish. Coat four- I'm literally dripping this on now in a very heavy coat.... still certainly not what I would call 'Max effect'. Fifth coat and I finally have something vaguely passable, though at certain angles I can still see the colour of my nails coming through and it still doesn't match up to the vibrant color of the polish in the bottle. This bottle is seriously tiny too, so could definitely do with packing a bit more punch because I'm probably only going to end up with 4 applications per bottle!
Mini bottle. Mini effect. Very disappointed Max Factor.
